La Crosse, WI (March 29, 2017) – La Crosse Promise is pleased to announce that they are the recipient of the 2017 Bridge Building Organization Award presented by Mayor Tim Kabat at the annual La Crosse Mayor’s Neighborhood Expo.
The award from the mayor reads:
“You have demonstrated tremendous dedication to our community. By working together, La Crosse Promise is helping to transform La Crosse’s neighborhoods through a commitment to education and urban reinvestment and transformation. It is because of this tenacious commitment to La Crosse’s core neighborhoods and our residents that I am presenting you with this much-deserved award.”
La Crosse Promise Board President Margaret Dihlmann-Malzer accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
“We are honored to be recognized by the Mayor,” she said. “All of our partners and generous supporters in the community have worked together to help transform the heart of La Crosse. Building Bridges between public and private, corporate and individual, non-profit and for-profit is always a win for our city. Thank you again for this honor.”
Five new homes (valued at the market rate of $150,000 or above) have been built and occupied within 16 months of the neighborhood revitalization program launch and more are already scheduled to be built or renovated in 2017. The families (adult learners and/or dependents) will receive up to $50,000 in scholarships upon enrollment in post-secondary education.
